Recent highlights include cleaning sanctuary walls, constructing stage walls, and preparing to install wainscoting, carpet, and audio equipment. The production booth is complete and server installation is on deck. In the kids area, asbestos has been safely and fully removed, and electrical and security systems are installed. Walls are framed and finished and painting is underway. The lobby and office areas are also being prepped for paint and carpet, as we look to retain some of the historic charm of the 90-year-old building.
You might recall that our overall financial aim for the Able initiative is to raise $10 million. At the end of the three-year initiative, we’ll be debt free and the Downtown Campus will be an established hub for ministry in the core of our city. Pastor Josh set an initial goal: if every adult at Woodmen were to give $200 by Easter, we’ll get the initiative off to a great start. We’re excited to share that the Woodmen family has already contributed $1 million! We/re deeply grateful to those who have supported Able through prayers and gifts. While we have a long way to go, we celebrate this first milestone of generosity and thank God for you. If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to give, would you pray and consider how God might lead you?
We know that prayer matters, so we’ll lay the groundwork for this new campus in prayer. Please join us for a prayer walk at Woodmen Downtown on Saturday, March 15. Drop in any time between 10 AM and noon to tour the building at your own pace. Spend a few minutes praying in the spaces where wide-eyed kids will glimpse the wonder of God’s love, where students will turn to Christ and adults will find hope in hard times. We look forward to seeing you at the corner of East Platte and North Cascade!
We see this new campus becoming a home-base for the people of Woodmen to be a transformative presence for Christ in our city. A short walk from our new campus will take you to Colorado College, City Hall, Acacia Park and Palmer High School.
From courtrooms and halls of government, to Springs Rescue Mission and tents of folks living along the creek, from Switchbacks Stadium to restaurants and music venues, the neighborhood is a crossroads of culture. It’s a place of vital influence, abundant promise and deep need.
Woodmen Downtown will house our ACTS resource center, presenting unique, missional opportunities to collaborate with downtown-based organizations caring for those in need. 1979 Coffee will be another campus highlight, making room to renew old friendships and start new ones after services and throughout the week. Coffee culture creates space for conversations and invites us to slow down and go deeper into relationships.

Children hold a special place in the heart of Jesus, so like our other Pikes Peak region campuses, kids will be a big deal at Woodmen Downtown. There’ll be fun, secure, spaces for boys and girls to discover God’s love!
Students will have dedicated space to take hold of faith that will last a lifetime. Sometimes belonging comes before believing, so the student space will be a welcoming spot for teens to invite others to find caring, Christ-centered community.
Woodmen’s Internship and Residency programs provide intentional, hands-on ministry experience and equipping for college students and recent grads. In the next two years, we’ll renovate dormitory space in one of the Downtown Campus buildings to house these young adults who are excited to serve Jesus and explore vocational ministry. Living downtown will only add to their amazing Colorado experience as they grow with God.
We’re trusting and anticipating that God will move in life-changing ways as the people of Woodmen increase our faithful presence downtown!
