Have you ever felt frustrated after taking a photograph, whether with your phone or a more complex camera, either of a special person or a special event, or a special location, only to be disappointed with the results?

Have you ever been deeply moved, emotionally and maybe even at a spiritual level, by a photo another person has taken, and you’re not sure why it has spoken to you at such a deep level? Would you like to create photos with more impact, that tell a Story, especially in those “Kodak moments” in life?

We will cover 6 compositional elements that not only make a good photograph, but are critical for all forms of art (ie, painting, sketching, etc.). You will learn terms and tips to help you better understand how to compose richer, more dramatic and impactful photographs.

Through the interactive process of completing weekly photo-taking assignments based on each compositional element as explained, you will have the opportunity to show and describe the experience behind your weekly favorite thematic photo. As a result, you will come away with increased Perspective and observational skills to the Beauty that is all around us, as well as an increase in your ability to articulate why and how a photo “speaks” to you! In addition to the practical development of your photographic skills, we will also explore the way that Photography, like all forms of art, can lead us to SEE our understanding of God and our faith journey in a new light, learning to recognize the Beauty of God’s Creation all around us, from the smallest of creatures to the grandest of landscapes, even in the mundane, everyday items of life!
