Dominican Republic #4

We began the morning with another quiet devotional time that talked about Jesus’s invitation to follow him. Today’s devotional looked at what it means to be a follower of Christ and how we can live this out by having a surrendered and willing heart to carry out God’s purpose for our lives.

An overarching theme everyone seemed to have in common from their ministry sites for the day was generosity. My team and I are truly inspired by how generous the people of the Dominican Republic are despite having very little. They have very warm hearts, which is evident in the interactions they have not only with their own community but with how they have welcomed us, as guests, into their community as well.

After dinner, we got to have a Q&A session with Katie and David, who are student leaders serving with Student’s International. The team and I got to hear both of their stories about how they were led to serve this ministry and the significant impact it has made on their lives so far. It was encouraging to hear and to see how their leadership has been making a difference here in Santiago.

I am very thankful for your prayers and support as my team continues to serve throughout the week. We are excited to continue to develop relationships with the community here and to learn more about the culture of the people in Santiago as our team serves at our various sites for the remainder of the week.
