First Days in Estonia!
Sorry for the delay everyone! We have literally been on the move since we left our families on the Morning of the 6th. Here are some highlights from the last couple days. The authors are on the Music Camp side of the trip (We will have an English Camp update very soon!) Here are the highlights:
We landed in San Francisco around lunch time, and all got extremely overpriced sandwiches. Our flight to Frankfurt was full of adventures with a lot of awkward photos of everyone sleeping thanks to Ruby. Once at the airport we had our fair share of German pretzels and random souvenirs. We also had the cool opportunity to walk outside to board our plane, and most of us spent the 2-hour flight to Estonia napping. Once we got to Tallinn, we crammed into three vans, provided by the people at Josiah Venture, and headed for the hotel. We grabbed a quick dinner at Burger King, hit a quick debrief, and crashed, excited for the next day.
On the second day in Estonia, we spent most of the day in training for our two camps and the interactions we would face there. We started with a devo (Luke 23) and then went into humungous detail about the potential situations that would arise. We heard from the leaders of the various camps and finished with worship and prayer as the English team headed out (after yet another delicious dinner at the one and only Burger King).
After our second Burger King dinner, the music team went for a walk around Old Town Tallinn and down to the harbor for the sunset at 10:30. Old Town was an incredible mix of restaurants, shops, and Estonian culture all surrounded by the original medieval era wall. After passing through old town, we made a stop at the city mall to find some cool souvenirs, then headed back to Old Town for some ice cream. We then walked from Old Town to the Tallinn Harbor. While the girls were taking their hundreds of photos for “the gram,” The Bois had a great time climbing unnecessarily tall towers and searching for pirate treasure on the beach. A walk back to the hotel followed, where we prepared for very little sleep and anticipated the happenings of tomorrow.
