Mexico blog #6

Wow! What a day! This morning started off with a massive egg. We ate ostrich eggs as our breakfast! After breaky, Tammy gave an amazing devotion to the team, telling us stories about her walk with the Lord and how he has brought the ministry to where it is today. Next, it was off to the races and we split up to finish our work for the week. A few brave souls went to clean the brick machine, but most of us painted the playground or planted trees. We successfully planted 32 trees and made an adequate amount of Lorax references while doing so. We had a great time working together in planting trees, especially when Matt yeeted a massive spider out of the ground and then Sam shot a stream of water directly up my nose. That was just dandy.

After a challenging and HOT morning of work, we went back to the base for a lunch of steak, rice, and chips, amongst a delectable assortment Mexican sodas. After lunch, we swam in the pond again, and it was a blast! Soon enough, the rain we had been praying for came, so we all had to run back into the kitchen where we heard the final testimonies of the week from Jack, Drew, Hope, Sam and Luke.

After the rain stopped, we drove over to the ranch for a tour! We got to hold bunnies, see sheep, cows, ducks, and the ranch dogs! After seeing the animals we all had went up the lighthouse and enjoyed the beautiful view. Next, we all piled into the back of the pickup trucks to go down to the creek and swing across the river (which went better for some than others), but it was so so fun! Pray for Taytum’s finger 🙏

When we came back to the base for dinner, it was time to hangout with the kids! We played volleyball, frisbee, and a BIG game of soccer (10-1 Mexico v.s. United States). The boys also wanted to make sure it was mentioned that the United States won the basketball game “by an enormous amount”. The rest of the evening was full of fun games and good conversations before the team headed to the pavilion for debrief. At debrief we all talked about our highlights from the week as well has what God had taught us this trip and how that will change us as we come home in 2 days. We also wrote some notes to the kids living on the ranch to encourage them (Drew asked me how to spell quiet). The team has really come together as friends but also as a family and God has really impacted each one of us this week in a special way. Hasta luego!
