Guatemala College update #2

Sunday 5/28:

We started the day eating an amazing breakfast prepared by our hosts in Los Verdes. Then we heard a message from Josh about our partner organization, UNUM. He talked about how UNUM means "one" in Latin and how we are all one in Christ. Then Jessica and Neely spoke about their time in UNUM and God's surprising nature. After that my dad, Brian, gave a devotional. He talked about the unique gifting we each have in Christ and how God placed us specifically on this trip for a reason. After his talk, our group got ready to take off for Chiquimula. We spent our afternoon chatting on our bus ride up there. Finally we arrived at our hotel in Chiquimula. Our hotel was beautiful and we were so glad to finally be there. We checked in and hurried off to our host a game day and movie night with the students in Jicamapa! We arrived to the village in our bus with the students clapping our arrival (see photo). It was such a heartwarming entrance. We then went into a variety of different activities with the kids in their school. I painted girls' nails while other played games, painted faces, and made bracelets with the students. The children seamed very excited for us to be there. They then started a movie. But students still wanted their face painted and bracelets made. So we helped them still do these activities with flashlights. After a full night of  talking to the children in our broken Spanish and activities, we headed back to the hotel. We ended our night with a debrief and highs and lows. It is incredible to already see God at work in this community from last year.  I know He will continue to do amazing things in this week to come.
