Zimbabwe #3

We are happy to say serving has begun! Our day started with morning devotions and the most amazing staff choir ever, definitely one of the top highlights for many on the team. We toured the hospital and enjoyed hearing how its vision that began in 2000 finally has come to fruition and is about to grow rapidly. CURE provides so much for the children who need treatment and their families. It starts with a consult, then they house families as they go through surgery, as they recover, and then when they return for post-surgery care, which includes physical therapy, and some day, orthotics. Some of the surgeries provided are club foot surgery,  bow leg correction,  rickets correction, and in January, a plastic surgeon will join the team for some cleft palates and facial surgeries. It was exciting to hear 65 total beds are in the works that will include a family hostel for those who need to stay longer.

After our hospital tour the team spread out, medical team members joined the doctors for consultations, others visited the ward, spreading joy to kids and parents as they waited for appointments. We finished the day telling a Bible story and completing a craft with the kiddos, and even some of the moms. Some highlights reported by the team:  the joy of seeing parents enjoy the craft with their children, coloring with the kids and communicating despite the language barrier, eating  Zimbabwean food, and for one team member, meeting the need of a child left behind in the ward.

It is our privilege to have you join us in this trip and via prayer.
