Zambia June Team #5
Suffering and pain can be transformative especially when a child is treated and cared for in a surgery room. Imagine the dentist who takes care of our cavities and how painful that good work can be. While being among all the children awaiting surgery, the most transforming experience to me is knowing their names and finding their meaning. One child I met had a Zambian name that meant Helmet of Salvation. This beautiful child was on the verge of being saved from a handicapped future. A future of limited mobility and thus conforming to a not so productive life. Salvation now has a much deeper meaning to me, since the name of this child prophetically whispers to me “I need to be saved and transformed.”
