Guatemala Team #2
Our first full day in Guatemala was a rich one of being able to attend church and worship with the greater body of Christ in their language and then loving on the community of Jicamapa where we will serve for the next few days. As we came into Jicamapa we were a little unsure what to expect … rain clouds were forming and we were uncertain who would show up for community day. Well, we said a silent prayer, set everything up and the local children in the community started appearing with their mamas and papas and grandmas and grandpas. What followed was hours of fun as we painted nails, played futbol and spike ball, corn hole, parachutes, keep-away and hopscotch. You get the idea!
Bringing the community together was very impactful. And then the evening ended in a perfect manner. As the rains did indeed come, we huddled a good portion of the community together under a covered stage and watched a film about the life of Jesus. The interaction with the film came from both young and old and as the film ended, we retreated back to our hotel. We thanked God for his providence as we look forward to what our future days here will hold.
