Story of the Week: But then Jesus!
Seven young adults. Seven different roads that all led to Colorado Springs.
Seven young adults. Seven different roads that all led to Colorado Springs. Most of them arrived at Woodmen fresh out of college, carrying the same quiet question: Is God calling me into ministry? For nine months, our School of Ministry residents are finding out the hands-on way. They serve alongside ministry teams across our campuses, meet with spiritual mentors and skill coaches, share life with their cohort, and when they get the chance, chase God’s glory up a fourteener or two. But the most important part of their stories didn’t start here. Each of them can point to a moment when life was headed one direction, and then Jesus stepped in.
To share a bit of their stories, we invited a few residents to fill in the blanks on this phrase:
One I was ______.
But then Jesus.
And now I am _____.
Selah:
Once I was broken, numb, and weary from striving
But then Jesus.
And now I am undone by his compassion and have found rest in his abundant mercy.
Bronwyn:
Once I was lost.
But then, Jesus.
And now I am saved and full of joy.
Hannah:
Once I was chained by the compulsive need to chase thing after thing, wildly searching for an adventure that would finally satisfy my restless soul.
But then Jesus.
And now I rest quietly yet with abundant joy in the life the Lord has set before me, and even more so in his deep love for me and the gift of the Gospel.
Gavin:
Once I was lost.
But then Jesus.
And now I am finding my way.
Emily:
Once I was searching for certainty in the circumstances I could control.
But then, Jesus.
And now I am learning to find my rest and take my joy in Him amidst the unknowns.
