Kenya July 26 - Day 6

Today we went to CURE for the morning. To start our day we all split into groups to go to devotions with the different working departments. After devotions, we split into three different groups, one group was in the outpatient waiting room, outpatient playroom, and in patient play room. We got to play with the kids, color with them, learn more about their stories, and share the Gospel with them. In the middle of our time there we did a skit of Lazarus and sang worship songs in Swahili for them.

We then had lunch and headed to New Hope. New Hope is a children's home that houses abandoned children across the area and provides schooling. Their main focus is sharing the Gospel and showing them the true love of Christ. New hope was such an incredible but emotional experience. Getting to meet the kids ages 1-18 and worshipping and playing with them was the most eye opening experience. The worship was like witnessing a little glimpse of heaven. Their voices were so loud and powerful creating a room filled with the Holy Spirit. We did a skit about David and Goliath and the story of Lazarus which the kids loved! After we all separated into two groups, some of us played with the older kids and the rest with the little’s. This is when things became real and raw because we started bonding with these kids, but realized we would have to leave them in a short amount of time. Knowing that these kids don’t have any parents or guardians or even any real connections, left our hearts heartbroken in a way that’s hard to explain. We left with joyful hearts but also hearts full of grief for these kids who don’t get the same opportunities we are given. We ended the night with dinner and lots of discussion about the busy day we had. Today was an amazing day but definitely the most emotional yet.
