Kenya July 26 - Day 4

Hello Friends and Family,

Today we had the most amazing first day at the CURE hospital filled with lots of memories and the beginnings of so many new friendships. To begin our day, as a team we split up into pairs and went to morning devotions with different departments at the hospital. Here we talked about being the Salt and Light of the world which I found to be a very fitting topic going into the week of ministry that we have ahead. We then took a quick tour of the hospital and then jumped straight into activities. For the morning we split up into three groups, men’s ward, women’s ward, and the hope house. At each of our ministry locations we all took time to sit down and begin building relationships with all of the patients here at CURE along with the guardians. This time was filled with many intentional conversations, coloring pages, laughter, and prayers. We then headed for tea time where we enjoyed more Kenyan Chai and some various snacks, most of which were bread and carb related. After feeling fueled we headed back to our ministry departments and continued our time of sitting alongside the people at CURE in hopes of hearing their stories and sharing the word of God with all of them. Once the afternoon hit we headed to lunch although most of us still full from tea time. We then had a quick orientation with Pastor Victor where he told us all about the goals and Mission of CURE Kenya. Next, it was time to go do outdoor activities with the children and guardians, which I think we would all argue was the best part of our day. We spent time outside blowing bubbles (lots of bubbles), playing soccer, running around, and dancing to music (although they all laughed at our dance moves). Philip led all of us in some type of dance class which I then turned into a Conga line which was so much fun. After enjoying our time outside we headed back into the hospital for ward fellowship. We sang many songs of praises, including the song our team has learned in Swahili, and heard a message from Josh. Once fellowship time was over we journeyed back to the guest house to have dinner and connect more as a team. After such a wonderful first day at CURE we are all so excited and expectant of what the Lord will do through us there this week. Please continue to pray for our health and safety, and that we will be able to be the hands and feet of the Lord the rest of this week.
