Estonia 26 Turi Day 1

Good afternoon friends of our Estonian student Mission Trip. We are getting ready for bed here in Türi, excited for our first day of summer camp tomorrow. 

We have had an invigorating Sunday in Estonia, starting with a church service at the church where we are staying. It was inspiring to witness the joy and zeal of their church community, who welcomed us with open arms this morning. A special shout out goes to one of our team members, Matthew, who shared a message on our divine purpose to the congregation. 

After church, we got to meet our Estonian teammates who we are supporting this week at summer camp. Just from meeting them, I can tell that the summer camp is in really good hands. Tomorrow morning, they will meet us at church and we will drive over to the camp location at a nearby school tomorrow. 

This afternoon, we had an opportunity to go kiiking, which is basically an enormous swing propelled by 8-ish people (plus one overexcited trip leader) that is common in Estonia. Some team members with a lesser desire for motion sickness (plus one mildly stressed trip leader, given the thrilling nature of the swing) opted to enjoy the rest of the park in other ways: frisbee and mafia were favorites. We closed out the day with a European pancake dinner and debriefing.

Thank you so much for supporting our trip and following along with us as we have the opportunity to do God’s work this week. Please pray for energy for the whole team as we prepare to take on summer camp tomorrow. We’ve mostly gotten over our jet lag but a good night’s sleep would be great for our team. Also pray for the children coming to our camp that they would be able to hear God this week, and that God could work through our team and the Estonian team to create an environment for openness and exploration of faith.
