Last Day in Guatemala :(

Today was a day full of laughs and tears. Starting off with the breakfast that first welcomed us on Monday, cheesy pepper eggs with beans and tortillas, we got ready to start our day. We loaded onto the bus for the last time, headed to Cruz Blanca to compete in a soccer tournament. With empty water bottles and full bladders, we narrowly made it there with no accidents. The US team was ready to give it everything we've got in a last hoorah,🥳 and secure the victory. Starting off strong in a heated match up with a 2-2-1 formation, we proceed to win the first game in a penalty kick, secured by our fandiddlytastic translator, Tony. 🙌The team regrouped and prepared for the finals, refreshed and replenished, thanks to Pickle's water deliveries. The girls team prepped to play, half with the Unum team and the other half with the Chivoc ladies. Equipped with strong spirits and crocs, Ri Ri, Gorilla, and the Chivoc won 1-0. With one victory secured, T-Dog, Jake the Snake, Joe, Q-Tip 3000, Tony, and Freddy 💋 got ready for the biggest game of their lives. With honor and tamales on the line, the team gave it their all in an evenly matched game. After a heated first half, T-Dog managed to sneak one by the goalie for a 1-0 lead for the US. Despite many close calls, the score remained that way for the rest of the game, thanks to Q-Tip 3000, whose masterful goalie skills led the US to their first ever Unum World Cup Victory. After all the excitement, out stomachs were raging with hunger which was fulfilled by the scrumdiddlyumtious taste of homemade Guatamalan tamales. Some downed one and other three, our stomachs now full and hearts fuller, the team got ready to say our goodbyes. Valentina, our bestiewestie soccer player came just to see us off alongside the Unum team. The first goodbye was hard, second harder, and the team reminisced on all the good times. The toughest goodbye of all was with the GOAT Freddy the Baker, 🥐 who returned to his life of sweets, a little less sweet with our absence. Still, the team headed home with their head held high, proud of our work, and pleased with the impacts made. "Even though our time here was short, our memories last forever"- T-Dog. We had a blast experiencing the guatemalan rain for the first time, and were able to dance in the rain! We Finished off our day with fish tacos, worship, devotional, and heart warming testimonies from L-Roe, Gorilla, and Gi Gi,  the night ended with photo roulette and sweet sweet memories of Guatemalan children's laughs, smiles, and hugs. 🤪

See y'all tomorrow!! Love from Guatemala 🇬🇹
