Guatemala Day 5

Hey everyone! Today was a really emotional and full day, so I thought I'd give our students a break (and give our loyal readers a break from so many emojis) and write the blog myself today. At our VBS location in Cruz Blanca, we had our final day of kiddos as we concluded our study on Jonah with some amazing skits, worship, games, and crafts. It's really been incredible to watch the students as they commit to doing the hard thing instead of the easy thing often: whether it is attempting Spanish in order to connect with a Guatemalan kiddo, picking up a child on their shoulders for the 1000th time, or going all out in soccer matches against the locals, our Woodmen Students are the epitome of what it means to love well. While the language barrier remains present, we've all quickly learned that there are some languages that are universal: play, love, hugs, and Jesus Christ. There were definitely some bittersweet moments as we said goodbye to so many of the children that we've gotten to know and love over the past week, but we are holding onto some hope that they will show up on Sunday when we host a big get together for the community.
If you're a relative or a loved one of one of the students that is on this trip - you should be so incredibly proud. Over my life, I've been on almost 20 different missions trips, and I'm incredibly and genuinely impressed by this group. They connect so well, listen so intently, find joy in the difficulty, and care for others. We all can't believe how quickly time has flown by. Tomorrow promises to be a fun day, as we get to have our tourist day! Thank you for the prayers and the care. We can all definitely feel it! Blessings,
