Zambia JULY 2025
Hey everyone! We are officially halfway through our trip which is both exciting and hard knowing that we only have a few more days to spend with the families and staff here.
Our day started very similarly to yesterday. We had our morning devos and then split off into the same three groups, laundry(where Daniel finally learned how to fold his t-shirts), kitchen(Isaac descaled some fish), and fellowship(more bubbles and balloons!). We then all met back up and went into the children's ward to play and pray with the kids and their parents. We were able to spend a few hours with them and the Lord worked in so many ways throughout that time. We have never seen more joy, heard more giggles, or experienced more colorful chaos in a hospital setting before today. It was amazing being able to pray for and comfort families as their children were heading to surgeries and seeing the relief on their faces when their kids came back safely.
Then we went to lunch where we ate nshima, pasta(yummy), and beans(blegh). Then we learned we were leading the hospital chapel tomorrow instead of Friday so we scrambled to prepare songs and messages. We managed to fit about 14 people in a small office space to practice singing our worship songs. This made us slightly late for painting, which ended up being fine because we were just painting lines in the parking lot(it turns out we can't paint in a straight line). Then we had an extended quiet/free time which was spent sleeping, playing catch, hanging out with kiddos, and whatever else we chose to fill our time with. Our last activity of the night was joining some of the hospital staff for a function at what the staff called "The Bush", which was a bonfire under a straw gazebo. They prepared an absolute feast(which was delicious), and we spent time in fellowship and getting to know each other. We told embarrassing storys about ourselves to each other and learned some cool songs from a staff member named Trevor, who was a professional Christian Rapper. He showed us some cool beats and songs he made, and even had a rap battle about apples and mosquitos.
Then we headed home for debrief and got to hear Isaac's testimony, which was awesome. Even though today was exhausting, we learned to deny ourselves and serve the Lord and others wholeheartedly. We can't wait to see what there is in store for us the rest of the week and how the Lord works through everyone.
