Zambia JULY 2025
Muli Shani (hello) friends and family!
After 46 hours of traveling, we are glad to announce that we have arrived at CURE International hospital! Besides a few bathroom mishaps, the Lord blessed us with no delays and safe travels. We will get to those "mishaps" momentarily. Our first flight was nine hours, and we got minimal amounts of sleep. Some found comfort on the plane floor, and others enjoyed the "purple sky" that was actually just a tinted window. We landed in Paris and grabbed some oui oui baguettes. This is where our first bathroom mishap occurs: Madi got stuck in a self cleaning bathroom. After exploring the Paris airport some more, we boarded our eleven hour flight to South Africa. Most got some much overdue sleep. Our next layover felt like nothing as it was only a fifth of the time of the Paris one. Our team hopped on the tiny plane and took the final stretch of the trip to Zambia.
Our hosts Chilekwe, Lillian, and Barnabas picked us up from the airport and we headed straight to the national delicacy of Kentucky Fried Chicken. Next they took us to the guest house where we are staying, for our final two bathroom mishaps of this blog post: Isaac got locked in the bathroom for 40 minutes until security came to break the lock and free him. Prior to this, he attempted to free himself by kicking the door thus leaving his first permanent mark on the CURE grounds (two massive holes in the door). Simultaneously, Micah and Lauren's toilet would not stop running. So obviously Micah decided to play Bob the Builder but that didn't turn out well and we needed more backup. After these issues were resolved, we walked to a pizza shop where Isaac gained a new nickname. The pizza was a delightful meal after having only plane dinners for a while. We only ate carbs for 42 hours, so having pizza was great protein. After such a packed days, we are excited to get some rest on REAL BEDS where hopefully no one will be taking pictures of us sleeping anymore, and Isaac won't wake us up to look at bright stars or purple skies.
Despite the lack of rest we feel as though the Lord has strengthened us through these past 48 hours and are more than excited to see what He has planned for us the rest of our trip. We would like to thank you for all your prayers and support as we continue to live out the Great Commission and are expectant for the week ahead!
