Guatemala Day 3
Hey! It’s Callie, here’s the blog.
This morning for breakfast, we had sausage breakfast sandwiches with cinnamon bread and Guatemalan oatmeal. Today was the Fourth of July, so in the spirit of that, we sang the national anthem to an American flag towel before we left. We arrived at Casa Blanca excited yet sad for our last day of VBS. Today, we had the older kids in the morning and the younger kids in the afternoon. The skits team performed a David and Goliath-themed skit, while the games team played a lot of soccer and water games.
For lunch, the Cruz Blanca staff surprised us with burgers and a small firework show for the Fourth of July. Then Josh’s sister, Ruth, gave her testimony, which left us all inspired. We were so encouraged to make this last session count. In the afternoon, our kids showed up, and we ended our final VBS by all playing soccer with a few of them.
We headed home and took much-needed showers. For dinner, we had barbecue shredded pork sandwiches and coleslaw, with banana bread for dessert. A lot of people on our team got ice cream from the tienda after dinner. We then headed to debrief, where we had powerful worship in the rooftop room that overlooks the city. After worship, people shared their testimonies. We all felt how much God worked through us today; it was our best day of VBS. We headed to bed excited for the next day.
